Union Cabinet approved proposal to promulgate the Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Ordinance

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on 10 June 2015 gave its approval for the proposal to promulgate the Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015.

The intended ordinance will amend the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (The NI Act) that is focused on clarifying the jurisdiction related issues for filing cases for offence committed under section 138 of the NI Act.

India, Bangladesh sign ratification pact to operationalise the historic Land Boundary Agreement

India and Bangladesh have signed pact to operationalise the historic Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) between both nations. It was signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina during his maiden visit to Bangladesh. In this regard, two sides swapped instruments of ratification regarding the LBA. The operationalisation of LBA paves the way for exchange of 162 enclaves under the control of either countries as per the 1974 pact.

State Bank of India (SBI) on 14 May 2015 launched contact-less credit and debit cards called sbiINTOUCH.
These cards are based upon the latest near-field technology (NFC). With these cards, a customer can transact by just tapping or waving it against the reader of the point-of-sale machine.
